About our Principal
Hurleys Consulting and Coaching was founded by our Principal, Chris Hurley, who has more than 25 years leadership, management and coaching experience over a wide range of areas.
Chris has an extensive management background which includes helping to set up and run
the Claims department of Admiral Insurance, one of the UK’s most successful direct insurers, in 1993.
It was there, he first became interested in how culture affects an organisation helped grow the
department from an initial staff of 3 to a thriving staff of more than 300.
Over the years Chris has broadened his leadership, training and coaching skills in a number of different areas including sports and recreation coaching, disaster team leadership as well as more “traditional” business areas.
He has worked with Multinational clients in a wide ranging number of industries including Insurance and Financial Services, Car Rental, Disaster Management, Heavy Plant Manufacturing, Postal and Telecommunication Services, Banking, Engineering and Technology, Film and TV Safety Services as well as the Oil and Gas Industry.
This enabled Chris to develop a unique, bespoke coaching and leadership style, that has proven highly effective and successful working with people at all levels.
Chris is equally at home interacting and leading a wide range of groups and people, ranging from young people, unpaid volunteers to senior business leaders and executives.
He has a passion for passing knowledge on to others and seeing their confidence, skills and self-awareness grow. His main motivating factor is what he describes as “the lightbulb moment”, when a client suddenly understands the concept they are being coached in and realise the potential it gives them to make a real difference.
Chris lives close to Heathrow Airport which is useful for all the travelling he does.
In his leisure time he is an International Response Team Leader for SARAID, a UK based International Disaster Response team specialising in earthquake search and rescue.
A qualified powerboat instructor, coxswain, flood and swiftwater rescue technician and paddle sports coach, Chris loves being in, on or under the water.
Most recently, Chris has been assisting a Local Authority in the UK with their COVID-19 response, setting up and managing COVID testing stations accross their area, and latterly manging operations in COVID vaccination and booster centres in conjuntion with the local NHS authority.
“Chris has great work values from Integrity to team work. In fact, I met Chris during a series of work sessions related to continuous improvement. He was always able to think outside of the box and never shy in front of new challenges, he embraced the change.”
